24/7 lane closures are now in place for the ongoing work to improve the Chowns Mill roundabout.

Highways England has said these lane closures will be in place from today (Tuesday) at the A45/A6 Chowns Mill junction in all directions.

"The lane closures will allow us to take advantage of the current (COVID-19) reduced traffic flows through the roundabout, enhancing the safety of the workforce and road users.

"We will continue to monitor the traffic flows at the junction and regularly review the situation in line with COVID-19 restrictions."

A number of planned night time closures will also be taking place.

Highways England has said signed diversion routes will be in place during any closures.

Any planned closures may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, but they will try to inform people about these wherever possible.

The £24 million scheme to re-design the busy roundabout where the A45 meets the A6 started last month and is set to take 22 months to complete.

It is due for completion winter 2021/22.
