Annette said: "The role of governor can take you to some very interesting places and give you the opportunity to meet some inspiring people.

"Being a member of the trust gives a real insight into the fantastic achievements of the hospital.

"As a trust member and public governor, I have a formal role holding non-executive directors to account for the performance of the board, but I also have a role to play in communication.

"I intend to do this through GP patient groups and local health engagement groups keeping them informed of the trust’s activities and importantly, taking any concerns from the groups’ members back to the trust.

"As soon as the Covid situation allows I will be back out there.

"There are some exciting times ahead for Kettering General Hospital.

"With plans for a new Urgent Care Hub (replacing our old A&E with new and improved hospital and community facilities) and the proposed new hospital (Government Health Infrastructure Plan investment) there has never been a better time for the local community to become members of the trust.

"Membership is free and offers the opportunity to become more involved in the activities at KGH.

"So please become a member and help your governors to shape the future of your hospital."

There are 25 governors on the KGH Council, including 13 public elected governors representing the four districts in which the majority of patients live: Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and East Northants and one governor representing the rest of the UK.

A key role of the council of governors is to hold the non-executive directors, both individually and collectively, to account for the performance of the board of directors and to represent the interests of NHS foundation trust members, staff and the public.
