Work to get the latest restaurant at Rushden Lakes ready to open has finally continued after the area was evacuated because of storm damage.

The leisure terrace at the retail park has been closed since Storm Ciara pulled cladding loose in gale-force winds on February 9.

Investigations and health and safety checks have been hampered by further bad weather.

It has meant that Lago Lounge - which is on the end of the building near Greggs - has twice had to postpone its opening date of February 19 and then February 26.

No new opening date has yet been announced but work has finally got back under way.

In a social media post, Lago Lounge said: "The build team are back at it and we've finally been allowed to continue renovations following the storm.

"Thanks for your patience and support. We'll keep you posted!"

Earlier this week Rushden Lakes said a temporary solution could see the leisure terrace re-open by Monday (March 2).

A spokesman said: "A number of our operators will need to undertake further works within their respective units, before these can return to normal trading, and we will continue to provide support with this wherever possible."
