Rushden stalker given long jail term after he's prosecuted over a second female victim

A serial stalker from Rushden is back behind bars after facing sentence for a string of offences against a local woman.

Connor Tough was previously jailed for 36 weeks in September last year for stalking his former girlfriend. He was also given a five-year restraining order.

But he was back before Northampton Crown Court just weeks after his sentence to be prosecuted over a new set of offences that took place over a period of three years, including at the same time he was stalking his other victim. They only ended when he was jailed for the separate charges.

The 24-year-old was in court last week to face sentence for intentional strangulation of the second Rushden woman that took place between May and December 2023. He was also convicted of a string of actual bodily harm offences between December 2023 and September 2025. And he was also sentenced for stalking her between January and February 2025, including making numerous phone calls, leaving voice notes and visiting her home.

Tough, of no fixed abode, had initially pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the strangulation charge after a trial in April.

Recorder Stuart Sprawson gave him four years and two months in prison and imposed a ten-year restraining order banning him from going near his second victim.

Tough has a long criminal record including a number of driving offences and failure to comply with previous sentences imposed by the court.
