Police have confirmed a man in his 20s was stabbed during an row with a passer-by in Corby on Sunday night (June 13).

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Eastbrook, just off Gainsborough Road, between 10pm and 10.30pm.

The victim required stitches in the wound but was later released from hospital.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim was standing in the street talking to friends, who then got involved in a verbal exchange with a passer-by — who attacked the man with a knife.

"The offender is described as a white man in his early 20s, between 5ft 9in and 5ft 11in tall and slim.

"If anyone witnessed the altercation or has information which could help our the investigation, please call 101 using reference number 21000328650 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The incident happened just over a mile from Constable Road where a 16-year-old schoolboy was fatally stabbed last month.

A 17-year-old boy is set to face trial later this year after being charged with the murder of Rayon Pennycook on May 25.
