Investigation into 'tragic' Wellingborough building site fatality

Emergency services remain at a Wellingborough building site after a worker was fatally injured today (Tuesday).

Four fire service vehicles and two police cars were at the Stanton Cross site this evening with nearby workers directing traffic after the incident at about 1.20pm.

A spokesman for developers Bovis Homes said: “We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident involving an employee of one of our sub-contractors.

Worker dies at Wellingborough building site

A spokesman for the government agency said more information would be released tomorrow.

The accident took place at a site just off route 4, near the Irthlingborough Road junction. Route 4 and nearby route 9 opened to traffic yesterday.

A police spokesman said the victim was a Northampton man who was in his 40s but the nature of his death is yet to be confirmed.

The spokesman said: "We are investigating with the Health and Safety Executive."

It is the second death on the site after a worker died there in 2017.
