A couple who were pulled from Corby Boating Lake after a serious crash yesterday did not sustain serious injuries, police have confirmed.

The silver Mitsubishi plunged down the bank from Cottingham Road after the crash at about 10.15am yesterday (Thursday, April 23). Two people in the car - a man and a woman - were taken to hospital but did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Although the air ambulance was called, it was not needed to transport the patients to hospital.

The pair were trapped upside-down in the car for some time before the emergency services were able to free them because of the tricky position of the car in the water.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
