You may not have thought about what toys and gadgets will be on the list this year, but Argos have released their annual top toy lists for Christmas 2020.

Despite finishing its final print run of the iconic bi-annual catalogue, the retailer is still going to produce its Christmas Gift Guide.

Among the collection of toys featured on this year’s list is kids vlogging equipment, a LEGO Lamborghini, and, even a flamingo that sits on the toilet.

The 12 toys of Christmas

Here are the top toys revealed by Argos to be the biggest hits under the tree this year.

From Baby Yoda to pooing Flamingos

The Mandalorian: The Animatronic Soft Toy Yoda

An animatronic doll of The Child from The Mandalorian – affectionately known as Baby Yoda, the diminutive star of the popular Star Wars spinoff that came to the Disney+ streaming service during lockdown – is expected to be one of this Christmas’s biggest hits. The doll, which moves (including its ears), gurgles and even ‘summons the Force’, will set parents back £45.

Nintendo and LEGO remain staples on the top toy list, and this year they have collaborated, releasing LEGO Adventures with Mario Starter Course. The toy allows users to create physical forms of the classic video game.

Little Live Gotta Go Flamingo

The Little Live Pets Gotta Go Flamingo is an interactive flamingo that helps kids know when to sit on the potty. Also featuring on the list is the Dancing Unicorn, a new version of Poopsie Slime Surprise Unicorn – the pooping mythical creature that was one of the biggest hits of 2018.

A demand for nostalgic toys this Christmas

According to new research conducted by Argos, the lockdown period has generated a sense of nostalgia for our favourite childhood toys.

Half of the parents taking part in the research reminisced about their old toys at some point during the nationwide lockdown, and as a result, more than a fifth plan to gift their child something that conjures memories of their own childhood this Christmas.

Retailer John Lewis revealed their toy predictions list earlier in the week and showed that lockdown also brought out a desire for board games, with Monopoly being the second most popular game during the period.

Juliet Ward, Head of Toy Buying at Argos, said: "With so much time spent inside during lockdown, the nation has rekindled its love for toys, turning to them now more than ever to keep themselves entertained during what has been a difficult time for many.

"This year’s top toys list offers a huge variety of new products, ranging from toys inspired by the biggest TV and gaming franchises to bizarre – but crucially, fun – pooping animals.

“When we craft the list of our top toy predictions for the year, we always try to accurately gauge the ‘toy crazes’ that are set to make thousands of wish lists. This year it’s heartening to see so many toys that will encourage families to spend time together, whether that’s putting together a LEGO Lamborghini or reminiscing over the Mario games of the 80s and 90s.”
