Volunteer shoppers are needed to help people who are shielding, isolated and vulnerable during Covid-19.

Serve has been supporting independence in East Northamptonshire and the surrounding area since the 1980s.

As part of this, it is committed to providing the best possible care, well-being and support to vulnerable adults in the community during the Covid- 19 crisis.

The charity based in Church Street, Rushden, has a team of volunteers who have been providing a vital lifeline to so many during the pandemic.

But as the winter months draw in, Serve is appealing for more volunteer shoppers so they can continue their efforts to help those who are most vulnerable.

A spokesman for Serve said: "During the coronavirus pandemic with help from our volunteers Serve have been supporting the community; those shielding, isolated and the most vulnerable during the coronavirus outbreak.

"The services we have provided are shopping, collecting and delivering prescriptions, delivering hearing aid batteries and more.

"Unfortunately, although many restrictions are being lifted, the need to support those that are shielding or vulnerable is still there.

"Can you help?"

Anyone who wants to volunteer must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

So if you have a couple of hours each week and can offer your support to shop for people or collect their prescriptions, get in touch with [email protected] or call 07747 245631.
