The Covid-19 death toll has risen to 118 as NHS England confirmed today (Wednesday) that two more patients have sadly died.

According to today's figures, 331 more people have died in England's hospitals.

At KGH, one person had died on Monday, May 4 and another yesterday.

NGH confirmed six more deaths. Four were recorded on Monday and two on Sunday, bringing the hospital's total to 179.

The UK has now the highest death toll in Europe. The government's total is now 29,427 deaths of people who had a positive test result for Covid-19.

Italy's death toll is 29,315.

Northamptonshire has suffered 60 deaths in care homes, confirmed by The Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Across the county the confirmed death toll in hospitals and care homes is now 357.

Last week, the ONS released data showing where in the county Covid-19 victims had come from. It is the most detailed picture yet of how much of an impact the pandemic has had in Northamptonshire.

East Northants has been the worst affected area with 38 deaths. The data also showed the impact in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough.
