Pride for GCSE students at Wrenn School in Wellingborough

Students and staff at Wrenn School, part of Creative Education Trust,  are celebrating their first set of GCSE exam results for three years today.

Teenagers across the country had been awaiting their results after sitting the exams during May and June.

The last two years saw GCSE grades decided by teacher assessment due to the educational disruption caused by the pandemic.

Young people returned to the exam hall this year and Wrenn School made extra efforts to ensure their students were prepared.

Staff at Wrenn have gone above and beyond, students have benefited by attending bespoke revision sessions, tutoring, mentoring and revision masterclasses which have been organised before and after school and during holidays.

The extra support and student resilience has paid off with many students achieving excellent results, here are just a few examples of the amazing achievements from our students this year.

Tom has achieved exceptional outcomes across the board, all 11 GCSES at grade 8 or above with nine grade 9s.

Skye has also achieved great success in her GCSEs with grade 7-9 on all eleven GCSEs including three grade 9s in Spanish, history and biology.

Ameera has joined us in the last year from South Africa and she has also managed to achieve outstanding results across all her GCSEs with four grade 9s in biology, chemistry, food and nutrition and RE.

Libby has achieved a grade 4 or above in all her GCSEs with a distinction in sport and a grade 7 in sociology.

Pablo has achieved grade 5 or above in all his eleven GCSEs with a distinction* in media, and grade 7s in literature, geography and Spanish.

Wrenn School is larger than the average sized secondary school, with 1380 students serving the town of Wellingborough and the surrounding areas.

We set no limits and accept no excuses and we have highest aspirations for all our students.

We are looking forward to welcoming lots of our talented students into our sixth form September, well done we are all very proud of your achievements and successes.

Marianne Blake, principal at Wrenn School, said: “I am really proud of the accomplishments of all our GCSE students this year.

“We are looking forward to seeing many of our students progress into our sixth form and wish all of those moving into college, employment or training the very best in their next endeavours.

“I would like to take the opportunity to recognise and thank our staff for working hard to support and encourage our students particularly given the extreme challenges of this year.

“I know that we are all rightly very proud of our students and their achievements and wish them all every success.”

Everyone at Creative Education Trust is so proud of our students’ achievements this year.

“Despite the educational disruption caused by the pandemic, students and staff have worked hard to ensure young people have still gained top grades.

“I wish all our students the very best for the future, I know theirs will be bright.”

Congratulations to all Bishop Stopford School students!

It has been a day of great celebration for Year 11 students at Bishop Stopford School. They have achieved superb GCSE results which are significantly higher in all measures than national performance.

After a tremendous amount of hard work over the past two years, students were rewarded with over 25% grades at 9-8, and 40% of all grades awarded at 9-7. 87% students achieved standard passes and 70% strong passes in both English and Maths.

65% of students achieved the EBacc – a challenging range of academic subjects (English, Maths, Science, History or Geography and a language). Over two thirds of them achieved a strong pass in this measure.

Students have shown commitment to their studies, and have been rewarded for responding so positively to the provision in place – both online during the pandemic and on return to school after lockdown. Today is testament to their hard work and responsiveness to all that was provided.

Angel Osuya’s mother said, ‘‘Bishop Stopford School, what can I say? Great school, great teachers and great support for students. My daughter made brilliant progress to be where she is today. Thank you so much for your hard work and commitment to education – I’m one proud mum today.’

Headteacher Jill Silverthorne said: “These GCSE results follow the superb results achieved by our A Level and BTec students last week. Both year groups have maintained the exceptionally high standards which are a hallmark of our school.

“The results this week are nothing short of excellent. All students have different starting points, but all groups have performed extremely well, meaning that they now have great foundations to move on to the next stage of their education.

“The dedication of our young people has been rewarded – as has their confidence in the provision they have received over the past two years. The whole staff team has worked tirelessly to support students in achieving ambitious targets, and we are thrilled that our students have been able to achieve their unique potential.”
