Some incredible results at Kimbolton School
A whopping 39 per cent of all GCSE grades at Kimbolton School, near the Northamptonshire border, were a grade 9 or 8 (equivalent to an A*), with 23 pupils achieving nine or more 9 to 7 grades.
Jonathan Belbin, the headmaster, said: “Despite the uncertainty which this year group has had to live with nationally, our pupils’ hard work and determination have shone through. Thanks to excellent support from their parents and our staff, the pupils have achieved results that they can be proud of and which will serve them well as they move into the sixth form.”
Council offers congratulations
North Northamptonshire Council is wishing all Year 11 pupils across the area who will be receiving their GCSE results today, 25 August 2022, the best of luck.
After a difficult few years for students, today will be an important day for many whatever the results.
It marks the start of the next stage of many young people’s lives as they move on to new challenges whether that is continuing to study at sixth form or college, moving on to an apprenticeship or other work-based learning opportunity.
Cllr Scott Edwards, Executive Member for Children, Families, Education and Skills“I would like to congratulate all pupils receiving their GCSE results in North Northants today on the dedication and hard work they have shown in completing these exams. Whilst receiving your GCSE results is a really important time in your life, whatever the outcome there are many exciting opportunities for all of you to continue with your learning.
“No matter what the results you receive are, there are plenty of choices for you from moving onto study A Levels to starting an apprenticeship or training scheme and whichever path you take, I am sure you will be successful. My best wishes for the future and I look forward to hearing about everything you will achieve in the coming years.”
Some pupils may not have received the grades they have hoped for or may still be unsure what opportunity they would like to take up in September, there are many options available and schools will be able to offer advice, guidance and support. In addition there are plenty of resources available online including information on what happens after Year 11 and Sixth Form places.
NNC are currently offering two traineeships programmes for those coming out of education and looking to gain employment skills, whilst apprenticeships are also available for those wanting to go down this route.
The Study Programme based in Kettering town centre is available as an alternative to sixth form or college. The 6 week Empower programme starts on 12 September which will focus on helping students to build confidence and support with challenges in learning with team building activities and projects. A 31 week programme, N’able starts in November which will focus on building skills, qualifications, attitudes and behaviours to prepare a young person for further learning and work. The first results are in!
Irthlingborough’s Huxlow Science College say pupils have received some astounding results this morning.
A school spokesman said: “This groups of students overcame so many challenges as they prepared for these exams and we are very proud of the way they rose to meet these challenges, and of the results that they have achieved. We are particularly proud of the very positive results achieved across the maths, languages and sport departments, and that the progress achieved across the school has been maintained at pre-pandemic levels.
“It is a testament to the hard work and resilience of staff and students throughout these turbulent years that students are now able to progress onto their planned next stages of education, work and training. The school is looking forward to the new term as it joins the Tove Learning Trust and reopens as Huxlow Academy in September.”
