The world record attempt is happening at the enrolment days, which will be an opportunity for families to find out more about the nurseries as well as build a den from bed sheets.

Beth Merriman, centre director at Busy Bees Kettering Central, said: “Our enrolment days are a wonderful opportunity for local people to pop in and find out more about our nursery – and this year is set to be really special with our world record attempt."

The nurseries have chosen to try and break the world record for den-building because a survey Busy Bees conducted of 1,000 children under 11-years-old found that building dens was one of the best thing about being a child.

The best thing was getting presents at Christmas and the rest of the top 10 included school holidays, jumping in puddles, being outdoors, and being excited about Christmas and birthdays.

Busy Bees hope the den-building world record attempt will help families remember their carefree childhood.

Ms Merriman said: "Here at Busy Bees, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that provides plentiful opportunities for play, interaction and development to give each child the best possible start in life.

"Creative play is one of many activities that does just that.

"We want families to come together and join in with our den building world record and other fun activities with their children on Saturday 18 January – we hope to see you there!"

Busy Bees Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough will be open tomorrow from 10am to 4pm.
