A popular Kettering butcher will open his latest town centre venture tomorrow - the second shop he's launched since the Covid crisis started.

Despite the effects of the virus forcing big-name businesses to close, Jamie Cooper opened D&J Discount Store with Darren Garley in August in the unit next to butchers Jamie's in Gold Street.

And at 9am tomorrow (Saturday) he's opening a pet food and accessories shop in Lower Street, in the unit which was formerly home to suit hire firm Warwicks.

He said: "Every lockdown we have had we have opened a new shop!"

Jamie's Pet Food Store, which will be run by his brother Aaron, will sell raw dog food with meat including beef, chicken, rabbit and tripe.

It will also sell leads, toys and other accessories as well as Christmas presents for those that don't want their pet to miss out on the festive fun.

And, just like with D&J Discount Store, he's promising to beat the prices offered by household names like Jollyes and Pets at Home.

Jamie, who thanked the Newlands Shopping Centre for their help, said: "We're going to be saving people a lot of money and that's what we are about.

"We want volume, we want a lot of customers so that's what we'll be doing."

The shop will open seven days a week with pet shops allowed to open during the current Covid lockdown.

It will create three new jobs and Jamie added that he has already got his eye on expanding in the future.
