Year 6 pupils thrive in trust-wide academic project
Year 6 pupils from across Nene Education Trust have recently taken part in an exciting and collaborative learning project designed to strengthen their knowledge and confidence in key subject areas.

Over a focused ten-week programme, children came together to work with specialist teachers in maths and English, benefiting from expert-led sessions that provided targeted support, challenge, and enrichment. The initiative aimed to both reduce gaps in existing learning and extend pupils’ understanding as they prepare for the next stage in their education.
The programme brought together pupils from different schools within the Trust, offering a unique opportunity not only for academic development but also for collaboration and shared experience. Through carefully structured maths sessions, pupils were exposed to a range of strategies to respond effectively to mathematical reasoning tasks, alongside reading sessions that explored a variety of skills for understanding texts and further developing their ability to successfully apply reading skills with increasing confidence.

The project has been widely praised for its positive impact. Teachers noted improved engagement, resilience, and willingness to tackle more challenging work, while pupils themselves spoke enthusiastically about the opportunity to learn in a new environment and work alongside peers from other schools.
Chloe Neild, Principal at Stanwick Primary School, who co-ordinated the project commented: “This has been a fantastic opportunity to bring pupils together from across Nene Education Trust and really focus on the key skills that will support them moving forward. The progress we’ve seen over the ten weeks has been incredibly encouraging.”
The success of the programme reflects the Trust’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, collaborative learning opportunities that support pupils in reaching their full potential.
As the pupils now move towards the next stage of their education, they do so with strengthened foundations in maths and English, and with the confidence to continue building on their achievements. As a Trust, we will be looking at how we can utilise this model for future year groups.
