Wellingborough ABC delivers unforgettable “Legacy” home show in memory of Lee Revell

Wellingborough Amateur Boxing Club hosted a powerful and emotional home show titled Legacy on Sunday, March 22, at Wrenn School, bringing together the local community and boxing clubs from across the region for a memorable afternoon of sport.

The event was held in memory of Lee “Revs” Revell, son of head coach Ray Revell, with a moving 10-bell tribute taking place in the ring. Members of the boxing community joined together in a show of respect, with Ray and his family expressing their heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in remembering Lee.

The show featured 19 contests in total, including four skills bouts, six East Midlands NAC Championship semi-finals, and nine club bouts, showcasing a full range of grassroots to championship-level boxing.

Despite late withdrawals and changes to the card, Wellingborough ABC delivered a fantastic evening, with their boxers producing outstanding performances and securing a 100% win record on the night.

Standout performances included Ashton, who secured a second-round stoppage victory against a strong opponent from Mighty Mariners, and William, who impressed on his debut with a composed and technical stoppage win.

Larae showed great adaptability, stepping in against a late replacement opponent and winning via unanimous decision, while Andrei battled through a hard-fought contest to earn a split decision victory in his first bout for the club.

The evening was brought to a close in style by Aleks, who delivered a dominant performance and secured a second-round stoppage, giving the crowd a fitting finale.

The event also raised £235 in donations, which will be split between the Royal Marines Charity and ManUP Charity, further highlighting the club’s commitment to supporting important causes beyond the ring.

The success of the event marks continued progress for Wellingborough ABC, who have now seen consistent improvement across their recent home shows, culminating in a clean sweep of victories.

A club spokesperson said:

“This was more than just a boxing show — it was about community, respect, and honouring Lee. The support we received meant everything, and we’re incredibly proud of how our boxers performed.”

Wellingborough ABC will now return to training as they continue to develop local talent and provide opportunities for young people in the area through boxing.
