The Wellbeing Learning Group has launched an anonymous survey to better understand the challenges facing young people today and identify the support, opportunities and interventions that could make a positive difference.

Across the county, many young people are navigating increasing pressures relating to mental health, social media, community safety, education, employment and future opportunities. The survey aims to provide valuable insight into their experiences and help shape future support that is both meaningful and relevant to their needs.

The survey has been launched by Wellbeing Learning Group, a newly established Northamptonshire-based organisation founded by education and mental health professionals with a shared commitment to supporting wellbeing, resilience and positive outcomes for young people.

Jo York, Co-Founder of Wellbeing Learning Group, said: “Young people are the experts in their own experiences. If we want to create safer communities and develop meaningful support services, we need to listen to their voices first. We know that many young people face challenges including mental health difficulties, social pressures, a lack of opportunities, feelings of isolation and concerns about safety. We want to understand what support they feel would make the biggest difference.”

The survey explores a range of topics including wellbeing, safety, community connections, local opportunities and the barriers that may place young people at greater risk of becoming involved in crime or violence.

The findings will help inform the development of a proposed Youth Crime Prevention and Wellbeing Programme, designed to support young people, strengthen communities and provide early intervention before issues escalate.

The Wellbeing Learning Group is encouraging schools, colleges, youth organisations, parents, carers and community groups to share the survey widely to ensure as many young voices as possible are heard.

Jon Crane, Co-Founder of Wellbeing Learning Group, said: “Young people have valuable insights into the challenges facing their generation. By listening to their experiences, we can better understand what helps them feel supported, connected and less vulnerable to crime and violence.

This survey is an opportunity for young people across Northamptonshire to have their voices heard and help shape future support within their communities.”

The survey is open to young people across Northamptonshire and all responses are completely anonymous.

Every response will help build a clearer picture of the challenges and opportunities facing young people across the county and contribute to shaping future support and prevention initiatives.
