Last year marked an unforgettable season for the Rothwell-based family, with both father and daughter bringing home top honours in the Volkswagen Drag Racing Club championships.

Father Luke claimed the Pro Class title in his Mk5 Golf—a machine built for pure straight-line performance—while daughter Lily was crowned Sportsman Champion in her Road going Audi TT, cementing the Stevensons as one of the standout families in UK drag racing.

Now, they return not as challengers, but as champions.

Santa Pod Raceway is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, making this weekend’s event even more special. With over 300 vehicles set to race, the atmosphere promises to be electric and a clear reminder that drag racing in the UK is very much alive and thriving.

For the Stevensons, though, it’s about more than the occasion.

Defending a title brings a different kind of pressure. Every run matters. Every competitor is chasing you. But with experience, determination, and a proven track record, the family will be looking to start the season exactly where they left off—at the front.
