Successful careers event draws hundreds to Tresham College in Wellingborough
A major recruitment and careers event held at Tresham College’s Wellingborough campus has been hailed a huge success, bringing together hundreds of jobseekers, students and employers from across North Northamptonshire.

The Recruitment, Skills and Careers Event, which took place on Wednesday 20 May 2026, was organised by Wellingborough Jobcentre’s Employer Adviser, Stefania Cosa, in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council and Tresham College.
The event welcomed an impressive turnout, with 364 people attending throughout the day and 30 employers and training providers on hand to offer advice, opportunities and support. Demand proved so strong that visitors were still engaging with exhibitors well into the evening, with activity continuing until 6pm.
Open to the public, the event provided valuable insight into the current labour market, as well as access to live vacancies, training opportunities and career pathways. It was particularly beneficial for individuals who are currently out of work or considering a change in direction, giving them direct access to employers and support services under one roof.
Students from Tresham College also had the chance to take part, with a dedicated session allowing them to meet employers face-to-face and gain a better understanding of the opportunities available across different industries. This hands-on experience gave young people a valuable insight into the world of work and helped them to explore future career options.
Organisers praised the strong level of engagement from both employers and attendees, highlighting the importance of events like this in connecting local people with opportunities and supporting the regional economy.
Julie Pritchard from Jobcentre Plus said:
"This was an incredibly positive event and a fantastic example of partnership working in action. Seeing so many employers, providers and customers coming together under one roof was really inspiring. Events like this make a real difference by giving people direct access to opportunities, helping to build confidence, and opening doors to employment, training and future careers."
The success of the day reflects the strength of partnership working between Jobcentre Plus, North Northamptonshire Council and Tresham College, and demonstrates the positive impact that collaborative community events can have in supporting people into employment and training.
