Strong improvement at GCSE for Kettering Buccleuch Academy
“We are thrilled with this year’s GCSE results which are a marked improvement on last year”
Kettering Buccleuch Academy (KBA) is celebrating today after Year 11 students received their GCSE results which mark a significant improvement for the school across all measures in comparison to last year.

Over half (55%) of students achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and maths, whilst just under three quarters (72%) achieved a grade 4 or above in the two subjects – surpassing last year’s outcomes.
Impressively over 15% of students achieved one or more grade 9 – the very highest grade – which is testament to students’ hard work and ambition.

Among the school’s top performers are:
Elson who achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8 and two Distinction*s;
Heidi who achieved six grade 9s, two grade 8s and one Distinction*;
Ben who achieved five grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7;
Jessica who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7 and one Distinction*.
Speaking of her success, Heidi said: “I feel really proud of myself and am going to go and eat lots of my favourite food to celebrate!”
Jessica added: “I have been chatting to my teachers and feel really happy. l am really looking forward to next year.”
These results follow on from last week’s A Level and Level 3 BTEC success which saw outgoing Year 13 students at KBA secure places at some of the nation’s top Russell Group institutions, including the University of Cambridge. Today’s celebrations likewise conclude a standout year for the school in which it was judged by Ofsted to have met the “strong standard” in two of its eight inspection criteria – early years and post-16 provision.
Chloe Buckenham, Principal at Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said: “We are thrilled with this year’s GCSE results which are a marked improvement on last year. They are testament to the exceptional hard work of our Year 11 students alongside the unwavering support of our brilliant staff and showcase how our school is continuing to go from strength to strength.
