In 2026 the school also saw impressive improvements across English, Maths, Further Maths and Science, while Religious Education achieved strong success, with over a third of students securing grade 6 or higher.

In addition, the average point score across multiple subjects has improved in comparison to previous years, while standards continue to remain high in faculties including Art, Languages and Music.

Paul McCahill, Headteacher at St Thomas Becket Catholic School, said: “We are so proud of our students and all that they have achieved throughout their time with us.

“These GCSE results are particularly significant because they demonstrate the positive trajectory of the school for the past few years. We have seen sustained improvement across a number of key subjects, alongside continued strong performance in areas where our standards have traditionally been high.

“This is testament to the commitment of our students, the dedication of our staff and the support of our families – I’d like to thank them all for being part of this journey!”

Recognition and particular individual successes include:

Emilia Wicher achieved eight 9s and a grade 8

Nandan Sathian achieved eight 9s and a grade 8

Victoria Donovan, Head of Sixth Form at St Thomas Becket Catholic School, added: “Our staff are on hand to help support and guide all students as they look ahead to confirm their future plans.

“We are so pleased that so many of our students will be joining us for sixth form, providing the chance for them to access all of the fantastic academic, leadership and enrichment opportunities that we have on offer.
