SENDS 4 Dad returns to Westminster to spotlight ‘Support Gap’ for dads and male carers

On Wednesday 10 June 2026, the Northamptonshire-based support group SENDS 4 Dad will return to the Houses of Parliament for a high-stakes drop-in session, timed to coincide with the most frantic window of the political week. Starting at 12:30 in Westminster Hall, the event begins exactly as Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) concludes.

By securing this specific time slot, SENDS 4 Dad aims to capture the attention of MPs and Ministers as they exit the Commons Chamber, ensuring the urgent needs of male carers are front and centre during the peak of parliamentary activity.

This follow-up to the group’s successful 2025 drop-in signifies a maturing of their advocacy. While the first event established a presence, the 2026 session is designed for maximum impact, challenging policymakers to address the “support gap” for fathers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a time when national attention is fixed on the House.

Paul Meadows, Founder of SENDS 4 Dad, said:
“Timing is everything in politics. By holding our briefing immediately after PMQs, we are placing the lived experiences of SEND fathers exactly where they belong: at the heart of the working day in Westminster. Our reach last year was fantastic, but this year we want to ensure every MP walking back to their office knows that supporting male carers is a matter of national importance, not just a local footnote.”

At the event, the group is looking to move from introductory conversations to specific asks, including improved mental health provision and greater local authority recognition for male carers. They will also highlight how targeted support for dads leads to more resilient family units and improved outcomes for SEND children
