Rushden Lakes jewellery retailer continues tradition of giving colleagues Boxing Day off – and an extra week’s salary in December
A Rushden Lakes jewellery retailer is giving colleagues the gift of time with loved ones this Christmas, announcing it will not open its doors on Boxing Day.

This year, Beaverbrooks, Rushden Lakes, located at Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre will continue the brand’s 107-year, longstanding tradition of giving colleagues an extra day off to spend time with loved ones, as a thank you for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. In addition, the retailer will continue its tradition of gifting colleagues an extra week’s salary in December to show its appreciation.
Having always championed a people-first culture, Beaverbrooks was recognised as the Number 1 Best Retailer to Work For in the UK at the Best Companies Awards 2025 and placed 22nd in Best Companies to Work For in the UK. Previous honours include Employer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards 2026, and Professional Jeweller Awards 2026.
Justin Ward, Regional Head of Retail at Beaverbrooks Rushden Lakes, said: “Here in Rushden Lakes, the festive season is always a really special time for us – but it’s also one of the busiest periods of the year, alongside launching our new lab grown diamond collection and a handful of new fashion jewellery and watch brands stocked by Beaverbrooks.
“Our team works incredibly hard in the run-up to Christmas to help customers find those perfect gifts. The extra day gives everyone the chance to relax, recharge and enjoy some quality time with family and friends.
“Family values are at the heart of Beaverbrooks, and it's fantastic to see that reflected in initiatives like this. Our colleagues really value the company’s people-first approach, and we’re proud to be part of a business that recognises and rewards its teams.”
