Rotary Club of Rushden Supports Charity and Brings Joy to Local Children

The Rotary Club of Rushden has recently demonstrated its continued commitment to both community service and charitable giving through two highly successful events.

Music Raises Funds for Prostate Cancer Charity

The Club hosted the Northampton Male Voice Choir at St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers, for what has become a much-anticipated annual concert. This marked the Choir’s fourth visit, once again drawing an enthusiastic near-capacity audience.

The historic 13th-century church proved to be a fitting venue, with its renowned acoustics enhancing a memorable evening of music. Under the direction of Musical Director Stephen Bell, the Choir delivered a captivating performance, delighting attendees with their rich harmonies.

Highlights of the evening included an emotional rendition of Fields of Gold and a powerful adaptation of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which earned a standing ovation lasting several minutes.

Following the concert, Rotary Club President Anton Rudgalvis praised the Choir, stating: “How great it was to hear them again. With their help, Prostate Cancer will benefit significantly from the proceeds raised.”

Funds generated from the event will go toward supporting prostate cancer initiatives.

Rotary Kids Fun Day Out Brings Smiles to Over 100 Children

Continuing their community work, the Club organised a memorable Kids Fun Day Out at Wicksteed Park, giving over 100 underprivileged pupils from eight junior schools in the Rushden and Higham Ferrers area the opportunity to enjoy a special day.

The children were treated to free access to the park’s rides and attractions. Despite brief showers and queues for popular rides, the day was filled with excitement and laughter.

The true impact of the event was clear as children expressed their gratitude, with many saying it was “the best day ever” as they boarded coaches for the journey home.

For the Rotarians involved, these heartfelt reactions highlighted the importance of such initiatives and the positive difference they make in young lives.

The Rotary Club of Rushden is part of Rotary International, a global network dedicated to humanitarian service and community improvement.
