Rosie Wrighting column: Coffee mornings with your MP
Thanks to everyone to came to my first MP coffee morning at the Village Hall in Geddington in May.

It was great to chat to everyone who attended, about the issues in Geddington and beyond, that they want me to focus on and take back to Parliament.
I receive lots of emails from residents about local issues, that I often think would be helpful to discuss in a group setting, where I can hear different people’s experiences, thoughts and opinions, and share how my team and I can help and advocate.
At my coffee morning, I heard concerns about flooding and sewage in the river and I was proud to talk to residents about the Government’s Water Act, which has increased accountability for water bosses, strengthened sanctions and made pollution cover ups a criminal offence.
We spoke about traffic issues in the village, which I know are a real concern to residents, and I listened to lots of suggestions about how to resolve them. It was also great to have an important discussion about the new Renters Rights Act, community energy, government support for small businesses, helping young people into work and boosting our UK defence capabilities.
I found it a really valuable experience to be able to speak to so many people, and it was lovely to have a cup of tea and catch up in the village I grew up in!
I hope to host more coffee mornings across the constituency, so please get in touch if you would like me to host one in your village. Thanks again to everyone who attended, and in the meantime, if you have an issue you would like raise with me, please get in touch at [email protected].
