Resumption of lawn bowls at Stanwick Bowls Club
With the indoor short mat season now complete, members of Stanwick Bowls Club are eagerly looking forward to returning to the outdoor game.
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable winter, featuring friendly indoor short mat games against local Northamptonshire teams, alongside internal competitions and relaxed social roll-ups—always accompanied by tea, biscuits, and plenty of good conversation.
As we move back outdoors, there’s always a short period of readjustment as players reacquaint themselves with longer jacks and the natural variations in green speed. However, this only adds to the excitement of a new season and the enjoyment of playing in the fresh air during the warmer months.
We are especially keen to welcome new members to our club. Whether you’re a complete beginner curious to try something new, or an experienced bowler returning to the sport, you’ll find a warm and friendly atmosphere awaiting you. Bowls is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities, and we are always happy to offer guidance, coaching, and encouragement to help you get started.
Our club is often complimented by visiting teams on the excellent quality of our playing surface, something we take great pride in maintaining. Throughout the outdoor season, from April to September, we enjoy a full programme of friendly matches. Team selection is based simply on willingness to play rather than ability, making it easy for everyone to get involved. While we always enjoy a win, the emphasis is firmly on participation, enjoyment, and the social side of the game—after all, there’s always another match just around the corner.
Stanwick Bowls Club has been at the heart of the village for many years, and we were proud to celebrate our centenary in 2023. As we begin another season, we look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new ones to the green. New members are able to benefit from a 50% reduction in membership fees this year.
