Proaction Martial Arts brings hundreds together for major Northampton community competition
Hundreds of martial arts students, families, and supporters came together at the University of Northampton for a large-scale in-house competition delivered by Proaction Martial Arts.

The event brought together participants from 15 clubs across the midlands region, creating a full day of competition, celebration, and community engagement designed to support personal development and encourage participation in sport.
This year’s event was held at the University of Northampton for the first time, providing improved facilities, increased space, and a more accessible environment for spectators and competitors. The businesses partnered together to deliver a smooth and enjoyable experience for both students and staff.

Organisers said the upgraded venue helped enhance the overall experience for families while allowing the event to run more efficiently at scale.
The competition welcomed students of all ages and experience levels, from beginners taking part in their first competitive experience to more experienced martial artists preparing for higher-level events.
Participants travelled from across Northamptonshire and surrounding counties to take part, highlighting the scale of engagement across Proaction Martial Arts’ network of clubs.
Rather than focusing solely on results, the event was designed to support personal development, giving students the opportunity to build confidence, discipline, and resilience in a structured and supportive environment.

For many young participants, the event provided their first experience of competitive martial arts, while others used it as preparation for regional and national competitions.
A number of local independent businesses supported the event, contributing to the wider community atmosphere.
Food and refreshments were provided by The Dough Dept Pizza Van and Pino's ice cream vendor, as well as No.68 Coffee House at Cinch, which opened specifically for the event and offered discounts to attendees.
Organisers said the involvement of local businesses was pivotal in strengthening the vibe and community-focused atmosphere of the event and added to the experience for families throughout the day.
Proaction Martial Arts, which operates 15 clubs across the region, said events such as this play an important role in bringing communities together and providing enhanced, structured activities that support character development.
The organisation continues to run classes every day of the week, as well as regular events aimed at improving confidence, fitness, and personal development for children, teenagers, and adults.
Following the success of the Northampton event, Proaction Martial Arts says it plans to continue expanding its competition programme and strengthening partnerships with local organisations and businesses.
Further community events are expected to take place throughout the year.
