Proaction Martial Arts brings home European Silver for England

Proaction Martial Arts, which operates across the county, saw its students compete against Europe’s best, with standout success coming from Alfie Andrews, who brought home a European Silver Medal in sparring, alongside additional success in patterns and special technique.

Alfie’s achievement marks the culmination of years of structured development within the club, highlighting not only individual excellence but also the strength of a community-based pathway that supports athletes from beginner level through to international competition.

Alongside Alfie, fellow Proaction representatives Krish Rathod, Finlay Brown, Joshua McMurdy, Joshua Manton, Blake Taylor, Summer Kightley, and Cian Guest all represented England at the Championships. Many were competing on the European stage for the first time, gaining invaluable experience while demonstrating strong discipline, resilience, and commitment to the values of Taekwondo.

While not every athlete returned with medals, several delivered strong performances against elite opposition, with many narrowly missing podium finishes. The club says these experiences are a key part of long-term athlete development.

Proaction Martial Arts places a strong emphasis on its in-house competition structure, which allows students of all ages and abilities to gain early, safe, and supported exposure to competition. This pathway is designed not only for future elite athletes, but also for young people developing confidence, discipline, and personal goals outside of sport.

The club’s upcoming in-house competition on 10th May at the University of Northampton will continue this approach, offering entry-level competitive opportunities for students across the region.

Master Nicholson, head coach at Proaction, said the success reflects a wider commitment to community development: “These results don’t happen by chance. They come from years of building confidence from the very first class, through our in-house competitions, and into national and international opportunities. What we are most proud of is the people these athletes are becoming.”

Proaction Martial Arts continues to play a growing role in Northamptonshire’s sporting community, developing not only high-performing athletes but confident, disciplined individuals who represent the county on the international stage.

The club now turns its attention to the Welsh Open, as it continues to build opportunities for athletes across all levels.
