Northampton Symphony Orchestra and Towcester Studio Band headline 21st Malcolm Arnold Festival
Celebrated cellist Julian Lloyd Webber launches a day of live performances honouring the music of Sir Malcolm Arnold at Cripps Hall (School for Boys) from 11am, and St Matthew’s Church from 7:30pm, in the composer’s hometown of Northampton this Saturday 24th October.

A day ticket offers low-cost entrance, with free admission for students and those under 18. Tickets for the evening’s Gala Concert are priced separately.
The Malcolm Arnold Festival, a community-focused annual celebration, showcases the composer’s music performed by the county’s finest performers, including Towcester Studio Band and Northampton Symphony Orchestra, amongst a roster of guest artists including Jiaxin Lloyd Webber who plays Arnold’s Fantasy for Cello.

Joining Jiaxin will be special guests Roger Coull (violin), Nicholas Roberts (cello) and Lynn Arnold (piano), as well as rising stars from the premier international music academies and conservatoires.
St Matthew’s Church provides the venue for the festival’s evening Gala Concert when the Northampton Symphony Orchestra presents a rousing celebration of orchestral music by Malcolm Arnold - including music from the classic film score The Sound Barrier and his Philharmonic Concerto - alongside two of his fellow-composers, Ruth Gipps and Shostakovich, and performed under the baton of the orchestra’s musical director and life-long Arnold champion John Gibbons BEM.
