Local photographer wins Portrait Photographer of the Year 2025/26 at prestigious regional awards

Miranda Walton, owner of Miranda Walton Photography, has been named Portrait Photographer of the Year 2025/26 for Central England at the Prestige Awards.

The award recognises outstanding achievement, client experience, and excellence within the portrait photography industry. Miranda was selected following a judging process that considered both the quality of her work and the impact of her business within the region.

Based at Towcester Mill, Miranda Walton Photography specialises in maternity, newborn, family and pet photography, creating timeless portraits and heirloom artwork for families across Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties.

For Miranda, the award represents the culmination of nearly two decades of dedication to her craft.

"I am absolutely delighted to receive this award," said Miranda Walton. "Photography has never been just about taking pictures for me. It's about preserving the moments that matter most and creating artwork that families can enjoy every day in their homes. To be recognised in this way is incredibly humbling, especially knowing how many talented photographers work throughout the region."

Miranda's journey into professional photography began following a serious horse-riding accident that left her hospitalised and forced her to reconsider her career path. During her recovery, she discovered photography and began building what would eventually become a thriving family portrait business.

Today, almost 20 years later, she photographs families from her dedicated studio at Towcester Mill, helping parents preserve the fleeting moments of childhood through both photography and handcrafted artwork.

The award adds to a growing list of achievements for the business, which has become known for its relaxed approach, exceptional customer experience, and focus on creating lasting family heirlooms rather than simply digital files.

Miranda said: "Every family who walks through my studio doors has a story worth preserving. This award is a reflection of the trust those families place in me, and I am incredibly grateful to each and every one of them."

As well as serving clients throughout Northamptonshire, Miranda Walton Photography actively supports local schools, community events and family-focused initiatives across the region.
