To mark World Brain Day on 22nd July, Northamptonshire hypnotherapist Frances B. Lafferty is encouraging local residents to remember one remarkable fact:

The brain can continue changing throughout life.

This ability, known as neuroplasticity, means our brains are constantly adapting based on what we repeatedly think, practise and experience.

For anyone who feels trapped by stress, anxiety, unwanted habits or low confidence, this offers genuine hope that change is possible.

Frances, who recently launched the Northamptonshire Community Wellbeing Project to better understand the wellbeing challenges facing local people, says the findings reinforce just how important it is for people to know that change can happen at any stage of life.

"One of the things I hear most often is, 'I've always been like this.' The wonderful news is that our brains are designed to learn, adapt and create new patterns throughout our lives. Small, consistent changes really can have a lasting impact on how we think, feel and respond to everyday challenges."

World Brain Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of brain health while reminding people that positive habits, quality sleep, relaxation, learning new skills and looking after emotional wellbeing all help support a healthier brain.

Throughout the week, Frances will be sharing free practical tips across her social media channels, including simple breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and wellbeing advice that anyone can begin using straight away.
