Participants can choose from distances ranging from 5km to 42km, with accessible routes available, making it an inclusive event for all ages and abilities, including families with buggies and wheelchair users.

To take part for The Lewis Foundation, walkers are asked to commit to the following fundraising targets (excluding Gift Aid) and all participants will receive a free charity top:

  • 5km or 10km: minimum £115

  • 15km or 25km: minimum £165

  • 42km: minimum £215

Every step will help the charity continue delivering more than 2,000 free gift packs each month to adult cancer patients across 17 hospitals, including Northampton General and Kettering General Hospitals.

Starting and finishing at Castle Theatre, Wellingborough, the Waendel Walk is one of the area’s most iconic community events, attracting thousands of participants each year.

Lorraine Lewis, co-founder and CEO of The Lewis Foundation, said: "The Waendel Walk is a fantastic community event that brings people together every year. As we celebrate 10 years of The Lewis Foundation, this feels like a really special way to mark the milestone. Every pound raised will help us continue to bring comfort, support and joy to adults going through cancer treatment. For some patients, our volunteers are the only visitors they see."

"We’d love to see as many people as possible join us this year. Whether you walk 5km or take on the full 42km, you’ll be making a real difference."

Start times for each distance:

  • 5km: Arrive between 10am and 12noon

  • 10km: Arrive between 9:30am and 12 noon

  • New Accessible 10km Green Route: Arrive between 9:30am and 12 noon

  • 15km: Arrive between 9am and 12 noon

  • 25km: Arrive between 8am and 11am

  • 42km: Arrive between 7am and 9am

Supporters are encouraged to start fundraising and, most importantly, get walking to help mark a decade of supporting cancer patients with care, comfort and compassion.
