The event will take place on Wednesday, June 3, from 10am to midday, at Kettering Jobcentre (NN16 8BG) and is open to everyone.

The fair will bring together a wide range of local organisations offering volunteering opportunities to suit all interests, skills and experience levels. Many roles are flexible, do not require formal qualifications, and often include training.

Volunteers’ Week is a national celebration of the contribution made by volunteers across the UK, making this event a perfect opportunity for people in Kettering to explore how they can give their time while gaining valuable experience.

Volunteering is known to boost confidence, support mental and physical wellbeing, and help individuals develop skills that can strengthen CVs and improve employment prospects.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet organisations including:

  • KCU

  • Serve

  • Kettering Mind

  • British Heart Foundation

  • Citizens Advice

  • Northamptonshire Association for the Blind

  • Support North Northants

Volunteer roles range from community support and befriending to retail, administration, gardening, fundraising, and health and wellbeing activities.

Training providers, including Tresham College and Kettering Learning Centre, will also be present to offer advice on courses that can help people build skills alongside volunteering.

Kettering Jobcentre says the event is ideal for anyone looking to meet new people, gain experience, or make a positive impact in their community.

Sarah, Employer Adviser at Kettering Jobcentre, said: “With Volunteers’ Week starting today, it’s the perfect time to think about giving back. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, there is something for everyone. Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding and could even open the door to future employment. Many of our customers who have tried volunteering have successfully progressed into employment.”

Residents are encouraged to attend and discover how volunteering can benefit both themselves and their local community.
