Kettering Jobcentre to host Volunteer Fair for National Volunteers Week

Kettering residents are being encouraged to give back to their community and explore new opportunities at an upcoming Volunteer Fair at the town’s Jobcentre.

The event, taking place on Wednesday, June 3 from 10am to 12pm at Kettering Jobcentre (NN16 8BG), is part of National Volunteers Week and is open to the public.

A wide range of local organisations will be in attendance, offering volunteering roles to suit all interests, skills and experience levels. Many opportunities are flexible and do not require formal qualifications, with training often provided.

Volunteering is known to boost confidence, support mental and physical wellbeing, and help people gain valuable skills that can enhance their CV and improve employment prospects.

Visitors will have the chance to speak directly with organisations including KCU, Serve, Kettering Mind, British Heart Foundation, Citizens Advice, Northamptonshire Association for the Blind, and Support North Northants, among others.

Roles range from community support and befriending to retail, administration, gardening, fundraising and even fitness and wellbeing activities.

Training providers such as Tresham College and Kettering Learning Centre will also be on hand to share information on courses that can help people build skills alongside volunteering.

Kettering Jobcentre say the fair is a great opportunity for anyone looking to meet new people, gain experience or make a positive difference in their local area.

Kettering Jobcentre’s Employer Adviser Sarah said “Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, there is something for everyone, and it could even open the door to future employment.  Many of our customers who have tried volunteering have successfully progressed into employment.’’
