The team completed the trek to help raise awareness and vital funds for Rett syndrome, a rare and devastating neurological condition that has a life-changing impact on children and their families.

Rett syndrome can affect almost every aspect of a person's life. Children may lose skills they had previously developed, including speech, hand use and the ability to walk. The condition is also associated with a range of complex health issues, including epilepsy, scoliosis and breathing difficulties, often requiring lifelong care and support.

Robert Adamek, Chief Executive of Rett UK, said: “We're so grateful to the David Wilson Homes South Midlands team for taking on a 15-mile walk from Oundle to Great Haddon for Rett UK.

“Raising £2,725 is a brilliant achievement, and every step helped raise awareness of a rare condition that most people have never heard of. Alongside the company’s Community Fund donation, it shows a real commitment to families living with Rett syndrome. This money will help us be there for families at the moments they need us most, from a new diagnosis to a hospital stay.”

Rett UK provides essential support to families affected by the condition, offering emotional guidance, expert advice, advocacy and access to a strong community network. The charity helps reduce feelings of isolation, build resilience and empower families, while supporting individuals with Rett syndrome to live the best life possible.

The funds raised will help Rett UK continue providing vital services and support to families across the UK, ensuring they never have to face the challenges of Rett syndrome alone.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part in this challenge. Completing a 15-mile walk is a fantastic achievement, and the enthusiasm shown by the team reflects our commitment to supporting causes that matter to our communities.

“Rett UK provides invaluable support to families living with Rett syndrome, and we're proud to have played a small part in helping the charity continue its important work.”
