Homebuilder talks the talk so residents can walk the walk
With warmer weather on the horizon, there is no better time to put those trainers on
To coincide with National Pet Month in April, Northamptonshire housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes is highlighting some of the best dog-friendly walks available to residents around its Priors Hall Park development in Corby.

With warmer weather on the horizon, there is no better time to put those trainers on and get walking with a four-legged friend, and there’s no better place to do it than Priors Hall Park.
Right on the doorstep, the Old Quarry Wood Trail offers an ideal dog walk, with a 1.5km route circling the eastern edge of the development. Once the Old Corby Quarry, the area has been transformed into a designated Local Wildlife Site, providing plenty of sights, smells and open space for dogs to explore.

Another great option for dog walkers around Priors Hall Park that is worth discovering is the Heritage Trail. This route guides residents around an old roman dig site where recent archaeological excavations have unearthed such wonders as kilns, tiles and a temple mausoleum.
For walks a little further from home, Weldon Woodland Park, less than two miles away, provides a variety of dog-friendly routes. With a mix of green open space, peaceful ponds and idyllic woodlands, walkers can enjoy getting back to nature and experiencing some of the local wildlife while tackling one of the many walks available.
Kerry Mullen, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Northampton, said: “These walks are a great way for our residents to enjoy the great outdoors with their pets this National Pet Month.
“Priors Hall Park is a fantastic place to walk due to its number of parks and green open space. Despite what ability level you may be, there are many walks in and around the development for everyone to enjoy including our four legged friends.”
Supporting the wellbeing benefits that dogs can bring, Barratt Homes has also previously sponsored a therapy dog at local school Priors Hall Park ALC, helping to create a calm and supportive environment for pupils. Just as walking a dog can boost physical health and encourage time outdoors, therapy dogs play an important role in promoting emotional wellbeing.
