Whittlebury Park's favourite woodland resident is proving he's got a heart as big as his spines, helping support the real-life hedgehogs that inspired him.

Following the arrival of Harold the Hedgehog, the resort's much-loved woodland mascot, Whittlebury Park has teamed up with Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue to support its fundraising appeal for a brand-new 'hogspital', donating a one-night family break to the charity's raffle to help raise vital funds.

The rescue is currently fundraising to build and equip a dedicated 'hogspital' where sick, injured, and orphaned hedgehogs can receive first aid, critical care, and rehabilitation before being released back into the wild.

It's a partnership that's only fitting for Harold. While the lovable hedgehog spends his days exploring the woodland, taking families on adventures, and encouraging children to discover the natural world, he's now helping shine a spotlight on one of Britain's best-loved but most vulnerable native species.

Marc Webster, Commercial Director at Whittlebury Park, said: "Harold may spend his days making magical memories for our younger guests, but he's also become the perfect ambassador for the wildlife that calls our countryside home. Supporting Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue was a natural fit. Whilst Harold may be fictional, the challenges facing real hedgehogs couldn't be more real, and we're proud to play a small part in helping them get back on their feet... or paws."

Harold first scurried into Whittlebury Park earlier this year after being brought to life by Laura Perez-Lopez, winner of the resort's children's mascot competition. Complete with his signature cap, trusty robin sidekick and love of outdoor adventures, Harold has quickly become the face of woodland trails, storytelling and family activities across the estate.

Now, he's swapping woodland walks for wildlife fundraising, helping encourage guests and the local community to rally behind a cause that's close to his prickly heart.

Rachel, from Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue, said: "Behind every hedgehog we rescue is a second chance at life, but we can only continue that work with the support of our local community. We're so thankful to Whittlebury Park for getting behind our Hogspital appeal and for using Harold to shine a light on the challenges facing wild hedgehogs today. We hope this partnership encourages more people to support our fundraising so we can give even more hedgehogs the care they deserve before they're safely returned to the wild."

Supporters can enter the Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue raffle for the chance to win a range of prizes, including a one-night family break at Whittlebury Park, with every ticket helping bring the charity's new 'hogspital' one step closer to reality and giving more hedgehogs the chance to make a full recovery before returning to the wild.
