Families invited to an action-packed fun day to help create more accessible play at Stanwick Lakes
Stanwick Lakes is set to welcome families from across the county on Sunday 19th July for its much-loved annual Family Fun Day, a day packed with adventure and entertainment to raise funds to support Stanwick Lakes’ mission to ensure outdoor play is accessible for everyone.

Visitors can look forward to a programme of family-friendly activities, including bouncy castles, face painting, Ranger Rita’s Animal Adventure and artisan craft stalls showcasing handmade gifts and local products. With a lively festival atmosphere throughout the day, visitors will also have the chance to book axe-throwing sessions, while performances from the Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company will keep children entertained.
The annual Family Fun Day at Stanwick Lakes is one of their key fundraising events, raising income to create a more inclusive outdoor play environment. Ensuring that every child can enjoy the benefits of their unique adventure playground, regardless of ability, has been a fundraising goal for the last two years.
Funds raised through previous events have already made a significant difference, with the recent installation of wheelchair-accessible swings and roundabouts. In addition, money raised from last year’s Fun Day has contributed towards a new accessible play tower, which is scheduled to be installed later this year.
This year’s fundraising efforts will focus on improving pathways around the play areas, helping families with mobility needs access all areas more easily, and will also contribute to improving their unique water-play area. The team at Stanwick Lakes believes that inclusive outdoor play is vital for children’s development. At a time when screen-based activities are increasingly dominating children’s leisure time, access to safe, accessible outdoor spaces has never been more important.
By supporting the Family Fun Day this year, visitors will be helping to bring this vision to life, creating a place where every child can explore and play without barriers.
Stanwick Family Fun Day is on Sunday 19th of July and opens from 10am. Admission is free, with usual parking charges. Some activities are ticketed and will incur a fee; booking is available in advance on their website for ticketed activities.
