Diamond Glider Pilot at 79

Welland Gliding Club, based near Brigstock in Northamptonshire, is celebrating a remarkable feat by 79 year-old member, Baz Wood.

Last Friday, August 7th, Baz flew an amazing 300 km to gain the coveted gliding Gold Distance certificate. The flight, undertaken in his Open Cirrus glider, took 6 hours. His achievement is all the more remarkable because Baz only took up gliding shortly before his 70th birthday, so proving that gliding is a sport for any age.

It goes without saying that all at Welland Gliding Club are incredibly proud of Baz's achievement.
