County housebuilder strengthens support for veterans with £1,500 donation to charity
Veterans Community Network, based in Northamptonshire, offers peer mentor support
Barratt Homes has donated £1,500 to Veterans Community Network, a charity dedicated to supporting veterans and adult family members who face disadvantage because of their military service.

Veterans Community Network (VCN) is a small local charity based in Northamptonshire offering peer mentor support including one-to-one support, drop-ins, breakfast clubs and coffee mornings and social activities. It also facilitates onward referrals to trusted partners who can support mental health, physical health and employment.
Since the charity was established in 2019, it has supported over 600 veterans and family members in Northamptonshire.
Dr Gill Le Page, service director and founder member of Veterans Community Network, said: “VCN is honoured and delighted to have been selected for this donation. Barratt Homes’ Community Fund scheme is a fantastic way for staff to support charities that are close to their heart.
“Most of our funding comes from grant applications, which often limits how we can use it. This donation is unrestricted, giving us the flexibility to cover the ‘little extras’ that core funding doesn’t support.
“We are truly grateful for this donation. The funding process is highly competitive with many charities like ours having to cut services. Every penny donated is vital in helping us being able to continue to deliver our work in supporting veterans and honouring their sacrifice.”
Barratt Homes’ donation was made as part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.
VCN operates without a formal office, allowing this donation of £1,500 to be focused entirely on support activities for veterans.
Simon Francis, managing director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are proud to support the Veterans Community Network with this donation. The charity provides vital support for individuals who may be struggling because of their military experience and we hope our contribution will make a positive difference to those who use these services.”
