YES Energy Solutions and Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network, have joined forces to launch a new Mobile Advice Centre (MAC), which will offer vital energy support to rural communities across the region, including in Towcester, Northampton and Kettering.

The MAC has been designed to make energy advice more accessible in communities across the region, including in rural areas and those without a Cadent Centre for Warmth nearby. According to the 2025 Statistical Digest of Rural England report, there is a higher proportion of fuel poor households in Rural areas than in Urban areas.

The MAC vehicle will provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for people to receive financial support, ensuring those in rural areas can access appropriate support.

People visiting the MAC will be able to receive expert guidance on:

  • Budgeting support

  • Carbon monoxide awareness, including free monitors for eligible households

  • Energy efficiency advice

  • The Priority Services Register

  • Income maximisation support

  • Signposting to benefit advice organisations

The scheme has benefited from over £120,000 worth of funding from Cadent, as part of Ofgem’s Vulnerability Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA). The MAC will join a fleet of seven vehicles that travel across the UK to offer support directly in communities where it is most needed. This figure is set to reach double figures by the end of the year.

The MAC will be visiting foodbanks, community events and hubs throughout the year.

Duncan McCombie, Chief Executive of YES Energy Solutions, said: “The Mobile Advice Centre (MAC) is an innovative partnership between YES Energy Solutions and Cadent, delivering energy advice where people live, shop and connect.  From food banks and community centres to local events and church halls, our teams are helping more than 300 customers every month save money, stay warm and make smarter energy choices.  MAC puts expert support on the ground where it is needed, turning everyday conversations into real savings for households and communities.”

Nicola Campbell, Safeguarding Specialist at Cadent, said: “We know that many residents in rural areas face barriers to support, including limited transportation options and availability of local advice facilities. This is why we have continued our partnership with YES Energy Solutions to bring the Mobile Advice Centre to Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Peterborough. Establishing mobile services like this, will help bridge the gap for rural communities to receive essential services and support.”
