Community project Shine looking for creative mentor

Shine Arts & Well-Being CIC, a local arts group for neurodivergent teenagers and adults, is looking to take on its first creative mentor.

The group, established in 2022, has gone from strength to strength supporting neurodivergent creative people in our community and now have secured funding to create a 24-month fixed contract part-time post.

The award-winning group (Rose of the Shire Awards, NCF recognised Volunteer award; Toni Fairall) has been involved in numerous projects around North Northamptonshire.

These include collaborations with Kettering Civic Society, Kettering Street Art, Sport4fitness in Northampton and several local Visual as well as Spoken word & Literary Artists.

Shine’s artwork Shoe Shine! can be seen on permanent display in Lower Street, Kettering, on the BT box we designed with help from talented artist Mark James.

Recent events Shine was seen at include Burton Latimer duck race and Kettering Carnival. The event in Burton Latimer saw them voted in the top three local groups securing them a £656 share in the town event’s fundraising amount.

Shine founder and director Louise Chandler said: “The group’s success depends completely on the people within it putting so much of themselves into it, week in, week out.

"Creating this role gives another newcomer the chance to share all their enthusiasm and skills with us. I can’t wait to see who will apply.”

Could that person be you? Email now to request an application form to [email protected] or go to www.shinearts.co.uk

Shine will also be publishing its latest edition of its ever popular neuro-verse magazine this October so look out for that!

Sold at Burton Latimer Community library, Magazine Heaven, Rushden and several other vendors.
