The Recruitment, Skills and Careers Event, held on Wednesday, May 20, was organised by Wellingborough Jobcentre Employer Adviser Stefania Cosa, in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council and Tresham College.

The event saw an impressive 364 attendees throughout the day, alongside 30 employers and training providers offering advice, live vacancies, training opportunities and support. Such was the level of interest that visitors continued engaging with exhibitors into the evening, with activity running until 6pm.

Open to the public, the event provided valuable insight into the current labour market and brought a wide range of opportunities together under one roof. It proved particularly beneficial for individuals who are currently out of work or considering a career change, giving them direct access to employers and support services.

Students from Tresham College also took part in a dedicated session, enabling them to meet employers face-to-face and gain a better understanding of potential career pathways. This hands-on experience offered valuable insight into the world of work and helped young people explore their future options.

Organisers praised the strong engagement from both employers and attendees, highlighting the importance of events like this in connecting local people with opportunities and supporting the regional economy.

Julie Pritchard from Jobcentre Plus said: “This was an incredibly positive event and a fantastic example of partnership working in action. Seeing so many employers, providers and customers coming together under one roof was really inspiring. Events like this make a real difference by giving people direct access to opportunities, helping to build confidence, and opening doors to employment, training and future careers.”

The success of the event reflects the strength of partnership working between Jobcentre Plus, North Northamptonshire Council and Tresham College, and demonstrates the positive impact that collaborative community events can have in supporting people into employment and training.
