Community Choir sings 'Songs from the Shows'
A local community choir is currently rehearsing for its summer concert, 'Songs from the Shows' which will take place on Friday 10th July 2026. Cransley Hospice Community Choir, which was created solely to raise much needed funds for the continuing work of Cransley Hospice, completed its 10th anniversary year by topping £40,000 raised. This amount, of which the choir are very proud, was raised through two concerts per year plus smaller, private events undertaken between September and June each year. Given the hiatus of Covid, this is quite an achievement for a choir of adults who hadn't sung in public or with others, since their schooldays.

Over the years, membership numbers have fluctuated organically. Currently there are around 70 members who gather on Monday evenings to practice under the expert guidance of Ruth Humphrey who makes the work a joyful experience each week.
During the next few weeks, look out for posters popping up in shops, banks, building societies etc. giving full details. Tickets (which can be purchased from the Cransley Hospice Charity Shop, Dalkeith Place, Kettering on 01536 414343 or the Cransley Hospice Fundraising Office on 03000 274040) are priced at £7 including refreshments. The venue is the Salvation Army Citadel, Rockingham Road, Kettering. Doors will open at 7pm for a concert start at 7.30pm. Should there be an unexpected change of venue, every effort will be made to advertise this.
Without the support of their wonderful audiences, who have turned out whatever the weather, these evenings would just be a dress rehearsal. So put the date - July 10th 2026 - in your diaries. Look forward to an entertaining evening supporting a very worthy cause. Every penny raised goes directly to the hospice. No fees are taken as the choir covers it's own costs. Looking forward to seeing you there.
