Building society awards almost £50,000 to charities and community Interest companies

The fund is managed by Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation on behalf of the society. It was created to help strengthen local support and make sure people can access the help they need to move forward with confidence.

There is a strong belief in backing local charities and Community Interest Groups (CICs) who understand their communities best. By supporting them, the society is helping to make sure support is not just available, but relevant and meaningful to the people who need it.

The Community Fund supports groups who are responding to real needs in their communities every day. From food support and essential items to wellbeing activities and financial guidance, these organisations are there for people when it matters most.

Anna Asbury, chief lending officer at Market Harborough Building Society, who previously supported the fund as a trustee, said: “We are proud to support groups that are responding to real needs in our communities. They understand the challenges people are facing and provide help that makes a genuine difference. This reflects who we are as a business.

“Through our Thrive agenda, we are focused on helping people and communities move forward with confidence, and it is inspiring to see that come to life through the work these groups are doing every day.”
