Autism and mental health services: Cafe Scientifique
Find out why the hidden disability of autism is so visible in mental health inpatient services with Dr Louise Kirby at the next University of Northampton 'research brought to the community' talk on Thursday 14 May.
Moving autistic people out of mental health hospitals has been a national priority since the Transforming Care Programme (2012).

Sadly, the numbers of admissions of autistic people continued to rise. Assuring Transformation Digital Data shows that the number of autistic people without a learning disability detained in mental health hospitals increased by 141% between 2015 and 2025.
This will be explored by Dr Louise Kirby, Autism Assurance Lead at Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, in the latest 'research brought to the community' talk held by our Centre for Health Sciences and Services.
It will take place at The Bee Hive, Harborough Road, on Thursday 14 May from 5pm-6:30pm.
