Age UK Northamptonshire offers FREE Home Energy Checks to help older people stay warm this Winter
Age UK Northamptonshire is offering FREE Home Energy Checks to older people across Northamptonshire, providing practical advice and support to help reduce energy use, lower household bills and improve warmth at home.
With colder weather approaching, the charity's Handyperson team is helping residents identify simple changes that can make a real difference to both comfort and energy efficiency.
During a Home Energy Check, a trusted handyperson will visit a person's home to assess their energy use and provide tailored advice on reducing heat loss and saving money on fuel bills. Where appropriate, they may also install a range of energy-saving measures at no cost, including:
Radiator reflector panels to help keep rooms warmer
Energy-efficient LED light bulbs
Draught excluders to reduce heat loss
Other practical measures to improve comfort and energy efficiency
Small changes around the home can have a significant impact, helping older people stay warmer while using less energy.
Who is eligible?
The service is available to people who:
Are aged 65 or over, and
Have a long-term medical condition, and/or
Live in a hard-to-heat home or are struggling to pay their fuel bills
The home visit typically lasts around one hour, including the installation of any recommended equipment. There is no charge for the service or for any of the energy-saving items provided.
