The Thursday Murder Club has finally made it to the big (and small screen). The movie adaptation has arrived on Netflix to much anticipation.
It had a limited release in cinemas last week, but was released on streaming today (August 28). See who is in the cast of the movie here and find out what the ending means.
Ahead of the release of the film, I finally picked-up a copy of Richard Osman’s best-selling book and read through it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of my biggest disappointments of 2025.
The film does make some major changes to the original source material. I’ve rounded-up 17 of the biggest differences I spotted in the movie.

13. The reveal of Tony Curran’s killer comes earlier
Just like in the book, it is Elizabeth’s husband Stephen who works out just who it was that killed Tony Curran. In the novel it is pretty much the final reveal in the book, before one last diary entry from Joyce. But for the movie it happens much earlier and Bogdan insists it was an “accident”. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

14. Bogdan is actually arrested
The first book, at least, leaves it open to whether Bogdan would face justice for killing Tony Curran or not - and if anyone beyond Stephen had figured it out. But the film features a dramatic scene in which Elizabeth thinks he had poisoned Stephen and the police race to Coopers Chase. He is arrested, but didn’t poison Stephen - because he was his friend. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

15. Ron still drinks beer in the movie
In the book, it is a bit of a joke that Ron pretends to still enjoy drinking beer when he actually wants to be on the wine. Unfortunately, this is lost in the translation to the big screen. He can be seen happily drinking beer with Jason in the final montage. | Netflix Photo: Netflix

16. Characters have been cut or reduced
Turkish Johnny has been cut completely from the movie while Bernard and Father Mackie are significantly reduced - mostly just to passing mentions. The key plotlines they have in the book have been dropped. | Netflix Photo: Netflix
