All acts will be considered, including dancers, jugglers, actors, twirlers, dancing dogs, gymnasts and magicians.

Event producer, Tommy Gardner says: “I am excited to be able to celebrate coming out of lockdown with the prospect of showcasing the town’s local talent.

"Some people may have spent time at home working on their act – they may have made a Facebook page or Youtube channel – but haven’t been able to leave their bedroom.

"Well, now is their opportunity to showcase their talent and support a local charity as well.”

Auditions are scheduled to take place in July and judges will shortlist 12 acts to go forward to a Grand Final to be held at the Deco theatre in November.

The 2020 talent show had just been launched last year in January before the coronavirus pandemic gripped the country and it had to be cancelled.

Tommy says: “Fortunately, some of the acts that registered last year have been transferred to this year’s registration and new registrations are coming in.

"The show, now in its 4th year, attracts lots of singers and dancers which is fantastic. It would also be great to have some more unusual acts register. We’ve had a team from an adult ballet school sign up, which is great.

"I’d also like to see an impressionist or a dancing dog!”

Tommy is optimistic that, as the Government eases the country out of lockdown, the show will go ahead as scheduled, however the team are ready to implement safety measures as necessary.

He also encourages anyone who may be feeling post-lockdown nerves to sign up.

“Everyone in the Northampton Rising Star team wants to celebrate coming out of lockdown by showcasing the town’s talent and raise vital funds for Cynthia Spencer.

“It’s actually a fantastic experience. I’ve watched backstage singers chatting to other singers and talking to other people “What do you do? Where do you gig? Everyone is so supportive. The atmosphere is great. Everyone is cheering on everyone else – it feels like a big family. The acts are not on their own - they make friends and are excited to get on stage in front of an audience.

In the Grand Final in 2019 - aside from the competition and from supporting the charity - it was like watching a huge celebration.”

All proceeds from the event will go to Cynthia Spencer Hospice, a local charity that is also celebrating its 45th birthday this year.

Registration is open until June 18, 2021 at www.risingstargroup.co.uk/northamptonshire
