Both Halloween and October half term are just around the corner, and that means a whole week of trying to keep the kids entertained.
Luckily, there are plenty of places across Northamptonshire that are planning spooky events for either the whole of October or half term week.
From spooky train rides, to fancy dress at soft play, there is something for everyone – and even events that will keep the big kids happy too!

. Pumpkin picking at Sunshine Farm
The Brixworth farm is open for pumpkin picking on every weekend in October.
A golden pumpkin will be hidden in the field every day. Whoever finds the pumpkin will win a £20 Amazon voucher.

. Pumpkin picking at Overstone Grange Farm
The Northampton village farm says this year's pumpkin patch is their 'biggest ever'.
The patch will be open every weekend in October and everyday from October 20 to October 29, to cover half term.
There is also a play patch and a maze for kids to enjoy.

. Halloween fun fair and pumpkin picking at Mini Meadows Farm
The fun fair will be take place on Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15, and then from October 21 to October 31. There will be ghostly fun fair games, from find the key, frog flinger, duck range, ball in a bucket, spin the wheel to win a prize and more. There will also be apple bobbing and an autumn nature trail.

. Halloween fun at Rockingham Castle
The Castle has been decorated by witches and wizards and there are pumpkins carved in the shape of various characters. Visitors will have to guess the character each pumpkin represents and there is is a garden trail where visitor will need to find hidden letters to make up a spooky word. There will also be pumpkin rolling to see who can get closest to the witch.
The activities will be on from October 24 - October 26 and then October 28 and October 29, from 11am to 4pm.

. Witches' Spooktacular at Delapré Abbey
There is loads on throughout the month of October at Delapré Abbey, including fun activities for kids and spookier ones for adults.
On certain days in the month, children will be able to take part in a witches' hat trail. There are also Halloween decoration workshops and Preacher the Storyteller will be back over half term.
Finally, Delapré's Spooktacular returns with a witches-theme at the end of half term.

. Halloween Trains at Northampton & Lamport Railway
The railway has 'trick or treat' daytime trains running on October 28 and 29 and also and after dark 'fright night' trains on October 28.
The trains will be decorated for Halloween and fancy dress is encouraged.

. Zoomania spooktaculor
There will be a fright night maze walk, scary games, a fancy dress competition and a mini disco on October 28 and October 29 from 5.30pm at the Northampton soft play.

. Welford Christmas Tree Farm's spooky hunt and pick your own pumpkins
The farm is open for Halloween and both Northamptonshire and Leicestershire half term weeks.
The spooky family hunt will see visitors look for the spooky scenes hidden amongst the Christmas Trees, fill out a quiz sheet and collect a little prize at the end.
There will also be pick your own pumpkins, spooky face painting and marshmallow toasting. Fancy dress is "very much encouraged".

. Wicksteed’s spooktacular half term
Visitors are invited to join the enchanting world of ghosts and ghouls of yesteryear on the family-friendly Halloween trail. The experience will include a peek at the Wicky Scare Show.
The train will also take visitors through the eerie wonders of the park.

. Pumpkin Farm Spooktacular at Wappenham Farm
The farm, near Towcester, has a whole host of activities going on this October, including a spooky trail, pumpkin picking and a Halloween shop.
There will also be face painting and pottery painting on offer, and refreshments in the tipi cafe.

. Pumpkin picking at Sunnies and Spooks
The Kislingbury pick your own pumpkin patch will open from Saturday October 7. It will then be open every weekend in October and then from October 21 to October 29, to cover half term.
The farm's owner says they have the "wackiest" pumpkins and a huge variety this year.
There will also be refreshments and other activities to keep kids entertained.

. Halloween Hunt in Northampton town centre
An augmented reality trail will take place in the town centre from October 20.
The free activity, accessed via an app on a smartphone, tells the story of the forgetful witch Wanda and her beloved cat Wicca.
As participants follow the trail, scanning the QR codes at each spooky location, they will be entered into a prize draw to win a prize.

. Pumpkin festival at West Lodge Farm
As well as picking your own pumpkin, West Lodge is offering a panto style ghost story, wand making, a cauldron corridor, a meet and greet with Daisy the witch, spooky tractor rides and more.
The festival is on from October 14 to October 31.
